THE PROTOTYPE IS PLAYABLE ✦ PLUNDER IS STILL IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
✦ NEW PIRATE'S GUIDE

Getting started

A practical route through your first time in PLUNDER, from the streets of Port Island to your first chest sale.

PROTOTYPE NOTICE: This is a work-in-progress game. Descriptions distinguish functioning/tested systems from planned features. Screenshots, balance and availability can change.

Start at Port Island

Your adventure begins on Port Island, a harbor surrounded by whitewashed buildings, merchants and docks. Locate the Shipyard, Voyage Board and Trading Post; the map and adventure tracker help guide you.

1. Get your first boat

The free Rowboat is the entry craft. The first full sailing ship, the Sloop, is currently priced at 1,500 Gold in the development fleet economy. Bigger ships are acquired later. Only the captain needs to own a vessel to launch it; crew members can join without individually buying it.

2. Learn to sail

Full sailing ships have a helm, sail controls and anchor/capstan. Cannons, repairs and bailing become essential when the sea turns hostile. The current desktop prototype shows M for map, J for journal and Shift to sprint; ship stations offer contextual prompts. Controls may change as platforms are tested.

3. Pick a voyage

Find the Voyage Board. The Castaway's Log is the introductory personal adventure; the team has tested treasure map voyages that lead to buried chests. Crews can vote to embark on shared activities.

4. Find and carry treasure

Sail to the map location, find the marked dig site and unearth the chest. Treasure doesn't teleport into your account. Carry it aboard, keep it on the ship and bring it safely back to port.

5. Sell your treasure

Return to an authorized merchant and sell the chest for Gold. Eligible crewmates earn shared Gold instead of splitting a single payout. Pirate XP and Mastery progression are being extended as the reward systems are developed.

Early-build tip: The prototype changes rapidly. If a ship station, voyage or reward behaves unexpectedly, check the Discord community and report the issue.
